
National Science Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Pushpagiri College of Pharmacy on 28th February 2026 at the Mar Theophilos Annexe Auditorium. The programme was organized by the Department of Pharmaceutics in association with the Kerala Academy of Sciences, in collaboration with IQAC, IIC, and NSS. The event commenced at 10:00 AM and brought together distinguished academicians, experts, faculty members, and students to commemorate the importance of science and innovation.
The celebration was conducted under the theme “Women in Science: Catalysing Viksit Bharat,” with a special focus on the topic “Innovation in Pharma.” The programme aimed to highlight the role of scientific innovation in advancing healthcare and to inspire students to pursue research and innovation in pharmaceutical sciences.
The inaugural address was delivered by Dr. Sabu Thomas, Director, Centre for Excellence in Microbiome, KSCSTE, Government of Kerala, and EC Member of the Kerala Academy of Sciences. In his address, he emphasized the importance of microbiome research, scientific innovation, and the growing opportunities in pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences. He encouraged students to develop scientific curiosity and contribute to national development through research and innovation.
The inaugural session was followed by scientific sessions.Dr. Grace Mary John, Infectious Diseases Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at Believers Medical College Hospital presented a talk on the crucial role of clinical pharmacists in managing infectious diseases and discussed recent advancements and challenges in pharmaceutical care. Her talk provided valuable insights into real-world clinical applications and the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration.
An expert talk was delivered by Prof. Dr. Jayachandran Nair, Head of the Department of Pharmacology, Dale View College of Pharmacy and Research Centre. He elaborated on emerging trends in pharmacology, drug innovation, and the importance of research in developing safe and effective medicines. His session inspired students to actively engage in research activities and academic excellence.
