The Department of Pharmacognosy, Pushpagiri College of Pharmacy, Thiruvalla, organized World Environment Day Awareness Programme on 8th June 2026 in Ward 5 of Peringara Grama Panchayat. The programme was conducted in association with the Kerala State Pollution Control Board, IQAC, Nature Club, and NSS Unit of the college.
The programme commenced with a prayer song, followed by the welcome address delivered by Dr. Anju A. Varghese, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacognosy.The awareness session on the topic “Single-Use Plastic” was led by Mrs. Pravithamol T. N., Environmental Engineer, Kerala State Pollution Control Board, District Office, Pathanamthitta. The resource person delivered an informative and engaging talk on the environmental hazards caused by single-use plastics, the importance of reducing plastic consumption, and sustainable alternatives that can be adopted in daily life. The session created awareness among the participants regarding responsible environmental practices and waste management.
As a token of appreciation, Dr. Malini S, Vice Principal (Administration) presented a memento to the resource person in recognition of her valuable contribution to the program.
The programme was attended by Ward Member Mr. Roy Varghese (Ward 5), Ward Member Mrs. Eleyamma (Ward 6), faculty members, students of second year Pharm.D. , and residents of the locality.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mrs. Archana S, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacognosy.Dr.Anju A Varghese,Associate Professor,Dept.of Pharmacognosy coordinated the program.
